HOLYOKE, Mass. – Ella Stodden had a double-double and a strong all-around night Wednesday as the Taconic volleyball team earned a five-set win at Holyoke.

Stodden finished with 38 assists and 25 digs. She also served an ace, had three blocks and put down three kills in a 23-25, 20-25, 25-17, 25-22, 15-8 win.

“She was everywhere, and Holyoke tried all night to make her work and take us out of system,” Taconic coach Lance Fyfe said. “Ella is like the Energizer Bunny, and she really gave the team everything she had tonight.”

Jadyn Galliher had a team-high 17 kills, and Janayah Jones had a double-double with 11 kills and 16 digs.

Sophie Aubin and Aliyah DelSonno pulled up 13 and 12 digs, respectively, and Fernanda DeSiqueira had eight kills. Angelese Ward-Green finished with seven kills and two blocks as the Thunder bounced back after dropping the first two sets.

“We lost the first two sets, and yeah, I was nervous,” Fyfe said. “Holyoke just seemed to be able to dig everything up and sent a lot of smartly placed shots over on the second touch which really threw us off.

“Don't get me wrong, we kept on swinging but they just seemed to be in the right place at the right time over and over again. As the night went on we began to figure out their game plan and we adjusted.  But what didn't change were our powerful swings.”

Taconic (8-3) travels to Amherst on Friday.
