SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Putnam Vocational volleyball team handed Taconic a three-set loss on Wednesday, but the Thunder took valuable lessons away from the 25-12, 25-17, 25-19 decision.

“After the hour-plus bus ride home we stood in the rain to talk and I asked the team what they thought of tonight,” Taconic coach Lance Fyfe said. “We all stood there shivering for 20 minutes  but the conversation was very respectful and well thought out.

“I felt like I was among adults and I was really proud of them all.  This loss may be the loss that ends up preventing us from winning the league, but we put our heads together and are looking forward to moving on with hopes of more victories and home court advantage in the post-season.”

Ella Stodden had 13 assists and eight digs for Taconic. Sophie Aubin had a team-high 12 digs. And Jadyn Galliher delivered four kills and a pair of aces.

Taconic (6-2) hosts Lenox on Friday.
