LENOX, Mass. – It was a tough showing for the Lenox girls soccer team Wednesday as they took a 3-0 loss against Northampton.

The Millionaires started the game on a positive note with some nice play in the midfield working passes in and out.

It wasn’t until the first goal for Northampton that came against the run of play in the 10th minute when the hosts started losing control. Northampton sent a nice through ball up the middle of the field and rounded the keeper for an easy tap in.

Lenox struggled much of the night to get anything on net. Northampton, meanwhile, fed off of that momentum and got a second goal of the game shortly after.

Goal No. 2 came in similar fashion, with  a long ball up the middle leaving just one defender to beat and a nice shot over the keeper's head into the corner.

Lenox got its first real chance of the game after the goal with Sophia Schnackenberg getting a nice shot on net that was cleared away off the line. Lenox got another chance from Medeja Rudzinskaite, as she sidestepped a defender and put a nice shot on net, but right at the keeper. Northampton added another right before half to make it 3-0.

Lenox came out in the second half with some fire similar to how they started the first half. It pressured Northampton and was able to pin the devils in their own end for a good part of the second half. Unfortunately for Lenox, it was unable to get anything challenging on target. The game went back and forth and Northampton had a few more good chances on net but was unable to add to the scoreline.

"We came together during half-time and were able to come together and press hard," Lenox coach Brian Seminara said. "For 40 minutes, we had some strong possession, but we couldn't crack Northampton's defense or keeper Chloe Denhart."

Northampton had a penalty shot late in the game but was waved play on and the game ended shortly after. Northampton was able to hold on to the clean sheet and finished the game off strong.

Lenox (1-1-1) will look to regroup against Monson next Tuesday at home.
