LENOX, Mass. – The Lenox girls soccer team Saturday night earned a 2-0 win over McCann Tech in the Western Massachusetts Class C Tournament quarter-finals.

Jane Elliot and Jocelyn Fairfield each scored a goal for the Millionaires.

"Very pleased with the result, but more so with how the girls played," Lenox coach William Welch said. "They were able to control possession for the majority of the game and completed many, many outstanding passing combinations. Hopefully this is a sign that we are peaking at the right moment."

Sophia Carraro made six saves to earn the shutout in goal.

“We played solid for the entire game against a good team,” McCann Tech coach Lindsay Lincoln said. “Our defense was powerful, and our goalie had 21 saves. We never gave up and stayed strong until the end.

“We are ready to be a force in the tournament at the state and vocational level.”

Frist the Hornets (15-2) will have a date against a team to be announced in the Western Mass tournament’s consolation round.

Lenox (9-7-1) waits for the winner of Sunday’s quarter-final between Monson and Springfield International Charter.
