Munch Hits Milestone as Lenox Downs Holyoke
LENOX, Mass. – Aliza Munch scored two goals, collecting the 100th point of her career along the way, as the Lenox girls soccer team beat Holyoke, 3-0, on Friday night.
Sophia Carraro provided all the offense Lenox needed 10 minutes into the match when she converted a free kick from just outside the 18.
Holyoke continued to battle, and it remained a one-goal margin after a back-and-forth first half.
Munch put the game out of reach in the first 10 minutes of the second half.
First, she converted on a through ball from Julia Zanin in the 43rd minute. Seven minutes later, she scored on a roundhouse kick with an assist from Maddie Pope.
That second goal gave her 100 points in her time with the Millionaires.
“Overall it was a great team win,” Lenox coach Brian Seminara said. “We were a bit banged up this week, and it was great to see the girls come together and play for each other to get the W. So happy to see Aliza get her 100th point. After being injured for half of last year, her leadership has been invaluable to this team.”
Munch’s senior classmate, Ella Hall, stopped 10 shots to earn the shutout in goal.
Lenox (2-2-1) hosts Springfield Central on Tuesday.
