Munch Leads Lenox Past Pacers
LENOX, Mass. — The Lenox girls soccer team Monday got a come from behind win, 2-1, against Chicopee.
The game was called shortly after the second half started due to weather, but that doesn’t take away from the first half performance from the Millionaires.
Lenox started off the game similar to how it finished with good pressure and control through the midfield. The strongest attack for Lenox came from playing up the wings and trying to find that killer ball in between the defensive lines of Chicopee.
The only thing lacking was that final piece of getting a good strike on net.
The Millionaires continued to dominate for a majority of the start, until Chicopee scored against the run of play in the 20th minute. Chicopee jumped on a loose ball at the top of the box and took a first time strike catching the keeper off guard for the 1-0 start.
The Pacers seemed like they would turn the tide of the match with a few more good chances and continued pressure, but Lenox responded well and finally got back to what they were doing in the beginning of the match.
Then, in the 28th minute Lenox got their equalizer from a nice cross Allie Lamm that was not dealt with by the Chicopee keeper and finally smashed into the net by Lenox's Aliza Munch.
From this point on it was all Lenox.
It was able to dominate the midfield, sending balls down both wings for good chances at the net. Seven minutes later, Lenox got its game winner with a failed corner kick that was kept in the final third and rifled into the top corner on a nice shot from outside the box, again by Much, this time assisted by Medeja Rudzinskaite.
The Millionaires went into the break up 2-1 and little did they know that would be all they needed. Shortly into the second half lightning struck and the game was called with Lenox on top.
Lenox (5-6-2) hosts Hoosac Valley on Wednesday.
