Pittsfield Girls Edge Monument Mountain
GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. -- Julia Eline Wright scored in the 68th minute to give the Pittsfield girls soccer team a 2-1 win over Monument Mountain on Wednesday evening.
Cassidy Moon gave the assist on the winning goal, which came off a Lauren Daury corner kick.
Pittsfield (5-1) took a 1-0 lead early in the second half when Molly Tierney scored her first varsity goal.
The Spartans (5-3) got the equalizer eight minutes later on a Christa Cardillo direct kick from 20 yards out.
Monument's Emily Shaw made 10 saves. Allie Hunt needed to stop just thee shots to earn the win for Pittsfield.
"Our backline of Lauren Daury, Britney Perkett, Sadie Supranowicz, Mary Picenti and Makailey Cookis did a great job of limiting Monument Mountain shots on goal," Pittsfield coach Andy Waluszko said.
Pittsfield hosts Lenox on Friday at Kirvin Park.
