Monument Mountain Girls Score Early in Win over Pittsfield

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. – Iris Firth scored a pair of goals and set up two more Tuesday to lead the Monument Mountain girls soccer team to a 7-3 win over Pittsfield in the season opener for both teams.
 
Lucille Dohoney and Annette Boyko each scored a pair of goals for the Spartans, who got a goal from Jade Nelson.
 
Firth scored the game’s first goals in the first five minutes of play.
 
The Spartans had a 3-0 lead at half-time and led, 5-0, after Nelson and Boyko each scored early in the second half.
 
Molly Pope got the Generals on the board with a goal midway through the second half. Caprice Conyers later scored back-to-back goals a minute apart for Pittsfield.
 
Jaziyah Forte got the win in goal with five saves for Monument Mountain (1-0), which goes to Hoosac Valley on Thursday.
 
Pittsfield (0-1) is at Pope Francis on Friday.
