McDermott Leads Mounties into Western Mass Semis

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Lily McDermott scored one goal and assisted on two more Wednesday to lead the Mount Greylock girls soccer team to a 4-0 win over Franklin Tech in the quarter-finals of the Western Massachusetts Class C tournament.

 

Tanley Drake scored what proved to be the game-winner with an assist from McDermott in the third minute of the game.

 

Lexi Politis added a second goal midway through the first half.

 

In the second half, Mai O’Connor and McDermott each scored a goal, the latter with just five seconds left to play.

 

Olivia Eakin played goal for the Mounties behind a defense that did not allow a shot on goal.

 

Second-seeded Mount Greylock (15-1) will be home on Friday evening in the regional semi-finals against either No. 6 Mahar or No. 3 Lenox, who meet on Thursday evening.
