Mount Greylock Girls Open with Win over Hoosac Valley

CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Madison Drake scored twice Tuesday to lead the Mount Greylock girls soccer team to a 4-0 win over Hoosac Valley in the season-opener for both teams.

 

Lily McDermott scored the eventual game-winner with an assist from Madison Powell in the 11th minute of play.

 

Gabriella Nicastro scored unassisted late in the first half to give the Mounties a 2-0 lead.

 

Nicastro and Belen Galvez each had an assist on Drake's second-half goals.

 

Mai O'Connor and Olivia Eakin split time in Mount Greylock's goal to pick up the shutout win.

 

The Mounties (1-0) host Springfield Central on Thursday.

 

Hoosac Valley (0-1) go to Bennington, Vt., on Thursday to play Mount Anthony in the first round of the Patriots' tournament.
