Wahconah Girls Seeded Second in Western Mass Tourney
CHICOPEE, Mass. -- After an undefeated season in the Berkshire County North Division, the Wahconah girls soccer team pulled down the No. 2 seed in Division 3 when the Western Mass girls soccer seeds were released on Wednesday.
Wahconah (11-3-2) gets up to two first-round home games, starting with a first-round match against No. 15 Pioneer Valley (6-6-4).
If Wahconah advances, it could face Berkshire County rival Hoosac Valley. The Hurricanes (7-7-1), who qualified for the tournament on Monday, are seeded 10th and go on the road to face No. 7 Mahar (14-4) in the first round.
The D3 field also includes No. 4 Monument Mountain, No. 8 Mount Greylock and No. 14 Drury.
The Spartans (12-4-1) are home in the first round against No. 13 Athol (9-9).
The Mounties (10-5-3) are home against No. 9 Palmer (10-6-2).
The Blue Devils (7-10-1) head to No. 3 Monson (11-3-4).
South Hadley held down the top seed in the D3 field.
Only Lenox qualified from Berkshire County in the Western Mass D3 field.
The third-seeded Millionaires (13-4-1) get a bye through the first round of the nine-team tournament and will host a quarter-final matchup against No. 6 Duggan Academy.
All MIAA tournament seedings and pairings are tentative until 24 hours after the seeding meeting, to allow time for appeals.
