Monson Girls Soccer Shuts Out Hoosac Valley

MONSON, Mass. -- The perennial Western Mass-finalist Monson girls soccer team Tuesday started the season with a 7-0 win over Hoosac Valley in the opener for both teams.

 

“Tough first game, Monson is a very talented team,” Hoosac Valley coach Kathy Budaj said. “We learned a lot from this and hope to build on it going forward.”

 

Emma Meczywor made four saves in the Hurricanes’ goal.

 

Hoosac Valley (0-1) goes to Bennington, Vt., on Thursday to play Burr and Burton in the opening round of the Mount Anthony tournament.
