CHESHIRE, Mass. – Emma Meczywor had a hat trick and the Hoosac Valley girls soccer team Monday earned its second straight shutout win.

It was a special evening win or lose for the Hurricanes, who raised more than $300 and recognized Childhood Cancer Awareness Month with the support of their fans.

“The teams will present the money collected to the founder of Strong Little Souls,” Hoosac Valley coach Lindsay McGinnis said. “Our very own Mackenzie Biros is a cancer survivor. Her teammates on JV will honor her by wearing the yellow sock to represent Childhood Cancer awareness.”

With the win, the Hurricanes (2-7) avenged a 1-0 loss to the Eagles earlier this year in Springfield.

Hoosac Valley goes to Mount Greylock on Wednesday.
