Mount Everett Girls Edge Drury
SHEFFIELD, Mass. -- Serena Batacchi scored one goal and set up another to lead the Mount Everett girls soccer team to a 3-2 win over Drury on Thursday.
“This was a good game played by both teams,” Eagles coach Jessica Murtagh said. “We’ve been playing very well the past few games -- really putting together smart passes and converting some offense. The girls really deserved the win today.”
Hudah Ngoy-Nkulo got the scoring started by converting a Battacchi assist in the 12th minute. Batacchi scored unassisted six minutes later to give Mount Everett a two-goal lead.
Elli Miles scored off a pass from Alison Felix to cut the margin in half and send Drury into half-time down, 2-1.
Hannah Steuernagle scored an unassisted goal for Mount Everett early in the second half to give the Eagles (2-11-1) some insurance.
And they needed it because Drury’s Kayla McGrath converted an assist from Jacy Howland moments later, and that is where the scoring ended.
Mount Everett’s Madison Ullrich stopped eight shots to earn the win.
Mackenzie Dobbert stopped seven shots for Drury (6-10-1), which hosts Mount Everett Monday in the regular season finale.
