Short-Handed Mount Everett Falls to Hopkins

HADLEY, Mass. – Alayna Bailey scored a pair of goals Thursday to lead the Hopkins Academy girls soccer team to a 6-0 win over Mount Everett.

 

Hopkins jumped out to a 4-0 lead and never looked back, outshooting the Eagles, 28-2.

 

One bright spot for Mount Everett was the play of Kamari Pridgen, who made her first appearance in goal and stopped 22 shots.

 

Her debut in the net, though, was part of a larger issue for the Eagles.

 

“We were short-handed today, missing three starters with only two substitutes, which put us in a huge disadvantage to start,” Mount Everett coach Josh King said. “Hopkins took advantage of our injuries and missing players by doing a good job of possessing the ball and making the simple passes and plays today. We struggled defensively with marking and never really found our footing today against a quality opponent.”

 

Mount Everett (4-6-1)  hosts Franklin Tech on Monday.
