SHEFFIELD, Mass. – The Mount Everett girls soccer team Tuesday battled Smith Academy to a scoreless tie.

“A much better outcome and result than the last time we ended up playing Smith Academy,” Mount Everett coach Josh King said, referring to an 8-1 loss on Sept. 9. “I thought today we played with better energy and effort on both sides of the ball, and I was happy for how we fought today versus how we showed up on Friday vs. McCann. We were missing some players last time we faced Smith's speed, and the girls did a great job of stepping to the ball and not getting beat on passing or player speed.”

Aliyah Creamer and Makayla Carpenter split time in the Eagles’ goal, combining to make eight saves on a day when Mount Everett was outshot, 8-3.

“Kudos to the defensive line and goalie work from Aliyah and Makayla today keeping a clean sheet, and I saw some solid play in the midfield and forwards today,” King said.

The result gave the Eagles a 2-1-1 record in their last four games.

Mount Everett (4-5-1) will look to show continued improvement on Thursday when it visits Hopkins Academy, a 7-0 winner when the teams met in Sheffield.
