NORTH ADAMS, Masss. -- Mackenzie Dobbert made seven of her nine saves in the second half to preserve a 1-0 win for the Drury girls soccer team on Friday against Pittsfield.

“Mackenzie Dobbert played a great game,” Drury coach Maria Bartini said. “She came out early to clear through balls, made a few key saves in the second half and made great decisions with the ball.

“Our back line played a crucial role in preserving the narrow lead. Senior captain Tessa Zoito and the rest of the back line kept making plays to protect our lead. They absorbed a ton of pressure from the talented Pittsfield attack, and we came out ahead at the end.”

The Blue Devils earned their lead in the 11th minute when Elli Miles sent a ball over the top to classmate Kayla McGrath, who converted for her 17th goal of the season.

“We’ve played North Division teams well this year -- I think three one-goal losses and a pair of two-goal losses,” Bartini said. “It’s nice to be on the other side of one. The girls have worked so hard and played well in those games. They really deserved this win.”

Drury (3-9-2) is 3-1-1 in its last five games and hosts Drury on Monday.

Pittsfield (5-8-1) goes to Springfield Central on Tuesday.
