Mount Greylock Girls Top Drury in Opener
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The Drury High School girls soccer got its 2014 season going with a baptism by fire on Tuesday afternoon.
Mount Greylock scored four first-half goals en route to a 7-1 season opening win over the Blue Devils.
Kelsey Orpin scored two goals and added an assist, and Ada DeGooyer scored twice for the Mounties (1-0). Melissa Swann assisted on two goals.
Charlotte Rand stopped one shot to earn the win.
"The girls played well for the first game of the season," first-year Drury coach Maryjane Rumbolt said. "Mount Greylock is a tough team, but now we know what improvements we need to make as a team to go forward with our season."
Heather Morris stopped seven shots, and Jenna Moulton scored for Drury (0-1), which has another tough test on Friday at Hoosac Valley.
