Maloney Goal, Assist Lift Lee Girls at Pope Francis

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Caroline Maloney had a goal and an assist Saturday to lead the Lee girls soccer team to a 2-1 win over Pope Francis.

 

The Cardinals scored first on a penalty kick in the 42nd minute, but Maloney answered eight minutes later with an unassisted goal.

 

With seven minutes left to play, Maloney set up Kaylyn Retzel with a cross for the game-winner.

 

Maeve Finnegan stopped 10 shots in goal for Lee, which was outshot, 11-10.

 

The Wildcats (9-5-2) go to Hoosac Valley on Sunday.
