LENOX, Mass. – Jane Elliot and Sophia Schnackenberg each recorded a hat trick Monday to lead the Lenox girls soccer team to an 11-1 win over Roxbury Prep Charter in the preliminary round of the Division 5 State Tournament.
Cate Welch had a pair of assists, and Hadley Herrman had a goal and an assist in the win.
“It was a great chance for our younger players to step up,” Lenox coach William Welch said. “It was especially rewarding to watch them show the results of their hard work in practice, executing within our system—a style that takes commitment and patience to master.
“We saw some great passing and defensive work from Jocelyn Coco-Gilardi and Caity Giardiana, as well as career-first goals for Audie Tresp, Sarah Chevalier, Jocelyn Herrman, Hadley Herrman, and Julia Zanin, which were big milestones for them and for the team.”
No. 23 Lenox (10-8-1) goes to No. 10 Mount Greylock on Wednesday in the Round of 32.
