PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Grady Pederson scored late in the first half to give the Pittsfield boys soccer team the lead, and the Generals held on for a 3-1 win over Hamden (Conn.) that kept them unbeaten this fall.

Lous Higuera started the winning play with a ball into the front post from the sideline.

"Jackson Rich flicked it across the box, and Grady came from behind to volley he ball back across the keeper, Simon Pinela, and into the far side netting," PHS coach Andrew Antil said

Earlier in the first half, Higuera gave Pittsfield a 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal.

Hamden came back and evened the score in the 31st minute.

With less than a minute left in regulation, Luke Dallenbach put the game away for Pittsfield.

A free kick from the left corner bounced around the box. Pinela (eight saves) got a hand on it, but Rich touched it wide for Dallenbach, who finished to provide the final margin.

Jon Bile made four saves for Pittsfield (7-0), which travels to face West Springfield on Monday.
