PITTSFIELD , Mass.- Owen Klatka and Bashiru Je Sowe each had a hat trick as the Pittsfield boys soccer team defeated Westfield, 11-1, on Monday.

Pittsfield scored five goals before the clock hit 20 minutes in the match.

Three of them were from senior Klatka.

Klatka scored 3 goals in a row within nine minutes.

“I felt good, you know, this team is not really playing as hard as we were,” Klatka said.

“Once I scored the first two goals I knew I was getting my third."

The other hat trick came from Bashiru Je Sowe.

Je Sowe scored his goals in the 18th minute, 31st minute, and the 34th minute.

The junior midfielder came in as a substitute early into the game.

On a day when 10 different Generals found their way onto the stat sheet, Gustavo De Oliveria had a goal and four assists.

Pittsfield's dominant performance Monday and unbeaten start have been directed by first-year coach Ryan Wanek.

“Coaching a team with these boys is a lot different than I have experience with, from the player count to the nature of the game," said Wanek, an assistant boys basketball coach for the Generals.

“Our plans are not changing in the future even for Thursday [against Hampshire] which I have not really thought about till this point.”

Hampshire defeated Westfield 4-1 to begin their seasons.

Westfield continues to seek its first win against Mount Greylock on Thursday.

Meanwhile Pittsfield (3-0-1) looks to stay unbeaten when Hampshire visits Kirvin Park.
