GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. – Leonardo Kirian and Gustavo DeOliveira each scored a goal Monday to lead the Pittsfield boys soccer team to a hard-fought, 2-1 win over Monument Mountain.

After a scoreless first half, Amos Ezan set up Kirian for the go-ahead goal.

De Oliveira scored with an assist from Kyle Cardoso to make it 2-0.

But the Spartans rallied, getting on the board when Milo Potoski set up Christian Blanchard.

“The first half saw Monument create more chances than Pittsfield and look to be more into the game,” Pittsfield coach Ryan Wanek said. “That all changed in the second half when the Generals came out with fire and tenacity. Pittsfield was able to take the lead through senior Leonardo Kirian's first career varsity goal.

Connor Devine stopped four shots to earn the win in goal.

Pittsfield (2-0-1) is off until it hosts Westfield next Monday.

Monument Mountain (0-3) will look for its first win on Thursday at Pope Francis.
