All-State Honors, All-Star Games for Soccer Standouts
Four Berkshire County student-athletes have earned all-state recognition in soccer this fall.
And some of the best players from throughout the region will get together next week for a series of all-star games at Pope Francis in Springfield.
Lenox’s Ella Hall, Mount Greylock’s Lucy McWeeny and Mount Everett’s Emily Steuernagle are among 28 players from Western Massachusetts to earn the honor in girls soccer.
Among the boys, Monument Mountain’s Erving Henderson was recognized by the state’s coaches.
Henderson scored 18 goals this fall for the Spartans, who went 12–5-3, including appearances in the regional semi-finals and the Division 5 State Quarter-Finals.
Hall, a senior keeper, backstopped the Millionaires to a 9-8-2 record and an appearance in the Western Massachusetts semi-finals.
Mount Greylock senior McWeeny helped the Mounties go 18-3, reaching both the Western Mass title game and the Division 5 State Quarter-Finals.
Steuernagle scored a team-high 15 goals and registered six assists for the Eagles (10-7-3) who went to the Western Mass semi-finals and won a preliminary round game in the D5 state tournament.
The state tournaments in boys and girls soccer conclude this weekend, but the season gets a final local send off with all-star action on Monday and Tuesday nights.
On Monday at Pope Francis, the Division 3 and Division 4 girls Western Mass all-star game will kick off at 5 p.m. It will be followed by the Division 1 and Division 2 girls matchup.
On Tuesday, it’s the boys’ turn, as the Division 3 and Division 4 all-stars take the field at 5 with the D1 and D2 game to follow.
