Mount Greylock Boys Fall at Hampshire

WESTHAMPTON, Mass. – The Hampshire boys soccer team Monday scored two second half goals en route to a 3-0 win over Mount Greylock.

 

The Mounties were missing three seniors and two juniors due to injury going into the Churchill League showdown.

 

Mount Greylock coach Erin Sullivan said he was proud of the way his team battled against a Hampshire team that has lost just twice in the last two years, including a berth in the Division 4 State Semi-Finals last fall.

 

“We're still finding our score-first mentality and compressing our efforts into more concentrated bursts of possession and transition at the start of matches,” Sullivan said. “We have to make sure we don't lose the game by giving up a second or third goal before we give ourselves the chances to equalize and win it.”

 

Ward Bianchi made three saves in Mount Greylock’s goal.

 

The Mounties (3-4, 2-3 Churchill League) host Pope Francis on Thursday.
