ADAMS, Mass. -- The Hoosac Valley Hurricanes put a second half goal in to edge the Drury Blue Devils, 2-1, Tuesday evening under the lights at Renfrew Field.

With the win, the Hurricanes go 2-0-1 against Drury for the season; after tying their first match at one and taking the second one 1-0.

The Blue Devils, eager for revenge, came out strong adding a goal just six minutes into the first half.

Senior Logan Rumbolt broke through the Hoosac Valley defensive line and sent a shot to the left corner out of the reach of Hoosac goalie John Horton giving them a 1-0 lead.

Drury held Hoosac until the 14th minute when Hoosac sent a cross through the Drury 18. In an attempt to clear the ball a Drury defender took a bad touch resulting in an own goal and giving the Hurricanes the equalizer to tie it at one.

"Getting the goal back in the first half was great, it was a great equalizer," Hoosac coach Mike Russo said. "It was an own goal, but nonetheless is was 1-1; I said at half-time to keep playing the way we were playing, I thought in the first half we controlled the ball more and created some chances, but we didn't finish."

The second half stayed tied until minute 26. Steve Crouch sent a shot at the net, but it was deflected to the feet of Colin Rousseau, who was positioned just outside the 18. Rousseau fired a shot on net breaking the tie and taking over a 2-1 lead.

"We didn't give them a ton of chances in the second half and one of them the kid rocketed a shot and that's the difference in soccer," Drury coach John Jacobee said. "They made their shot, we didn't; the effort was there, we had some chances, but we didn't get enough balls on net."

The Blue Devils fought hard to tie it back at two; with 9:34 remaining, Jacobee used a timeout. He switched up his attack; putting three up front, one player of which was on the defensive line through the entire game.

Jon Boland, a center defender for the Blue Devils was switched up the the left wing; his speed caused Hoosac Valley to move back Rousseau, one of their top defenders, who was playing in the midfield.

"JB's best position in defense and we've been keeping him there, but he can create a lot of front," Jacobee said. "And he did, he had two good chances that both went over the net."

Boland, with less then five minutes remaining, sent a shot just shy of the top of the net that could have been the equalizer for the Blue Devils. A few minutes later he broke away again up the line but sent it over again securing the win for the Hurricanes.

"They're very good at putting passes over the top and they're very athletic and fast," Russo said. "It's one of the fastest teams that we've played so we needed to deal with that and we moved Colin Rousseau, one of our best defenders who was playing in the midfield back to defense."

Hoosac hosts Lenox Thursday afternoon at Hoosac Valley High School; the Blue Devils travel to Greenfield Tuesday for a 6:30 p.m. start.
