CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Nick Tomich converted a penalty kick midway through the second half to give the Mount Everett boys soccer team a 2-1 win over Hoosac Valley on Friday afternoon.

The Eagles (9-2-3) took the lead in the last minute of the first half when Graham Collopy's diagonal ball was finished by Matt Morehouse.

Hoosac Valley tied it when Dante Richards intercepted a failed clearing pass and went back post to make it 1-1.

But a minute later, Mount Everett earned the PK, and Tomich made it count.

"It was a very competitive game, especially in the second half," Hoosac coach Mike Russo said. "Mount Everett had more chances in the first half, but Hoosac Valley battled in the second."

Ryan Meyer made three saves to earn the win for the Eagles, who play at Berkshire Country Day on Saturday.

Matt Carlow made nine stops for Hoosac (3-7-5), which goes to Mount Greylock on Wednesday.
