Uqdah Scores Pair as McCann Tech Boys Open with Win

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Omar Uqdah scored twice Tuesday to lead the McCann Tech boys soccer team to a 3-2 win over St. Mary's.

 

"I'm glad to see our team come out on top, and there still a lot we can improve on, but, overall, I am happy with the results," Hornets coach John Bresett said.

 

Uqdah scored his first goal on a penalty kick after Michael Harris earned the try.

 

The second McCann Tech goal came from Ivan Liang out of a scramble in the box.

 

Uqdah finished the scoring on another set piece opportunity. This time, Matt Bailey took a free kick that elluded St. Mary's keeper, allowing Uqdah to tap it home.

 

Andrew Levesque earned the win in goal with five saves.

 

McCann Tech (1-0) hosts Commerce on Friday.
