NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - The McCann boys soccer team (1-2-1) Tuesday lost their second game of the season to Tri-County leader Pioneer Valley Christian Academy.

McCann faced the tri-county division leader in PVCA McCann (1-2-1) started out strong, but the Eagles (3-1-1) received goals from their top two scorers, Andrew Rossoshanskiy and Cameron Belmer, en route to a 4-1 win.

McCann’s only goal scorer was Michael Wojtaszek.

The first half started at an even pace with both teams having chances at net. In the 25th minute, PVCA’s Belmer was able to net his and the game’s first goal. The next goal didn’t take long. In the 28th minute Kaitlyn Ravizza assisted on Belmer’s and the game’s second goal. McCann fought back late in the first half, but everyone of the team’s free kicks and corner attempts was fruitless. The first half finished Eagles 2 Hornets 0.

The second half started the same as the first, with both teams fighting for possession until the 24th minute when Rossoshanskiy received a pass and dribbled around the contending goalkeeper to net his first and the game’s third for the Eagles.

McCann once again fought back late, and Wojtaszek was able to score on a rebound off the Eagles goalkeeper to give the Hornets their first goal. Then in the 31st minute, the Eagles were able to push the lead back to three when Rossoshanskiy scored on a rebound, giving him his second goal.

“This is a young team, and we were without one of our stronger defenders today,” McCann coach Tom Bona said “Give credit where it’s due. [PVCA] has very good forwards. We’re a young team, and the positive is that I got to see players in different positions today.

“Communication is a focus in practice.”

McCann travels to play Commerce on Thursday.
