Bona Leads Hornets to Shutout Win

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Hayden Bona scored a pair of goals Thursday to lead the McCann Tech boys soccer team to a 4-0 win over Renaissance.
 
Zach Gelinas provided two assists, including a cross that set up a header by Bona.
 
Mike Barnes curled a free kick around the wall and into the goal from outside the 18 for the eventual game-winning goal.
 
And Ashton Solomon converted a Gelinas assist with a sliding shot.
 
“Huge shout out to our defense keeping the ball under control on our half of the field and distributing the ball and giving our offense great opportunities,” McCann Tech coach Stephen McAllister said.
 
Ben Harris made one save to earn the shutout in goal.
 
McCann Tech (1-0) goes to Taconic on Tuesday.
