PITTSFIELD, Mass. – The Pittsfield High football team grabbed bragging rights with a 48-0 win over city rival Taconic on Friday at Berkshire Community College.

The undefeated Pittsfield Generals (7-0) keep the run going in what seems to be normal fashion blowing things open in the first half this season.

Led by senior Marcus Jubrey, who rushed for over 130 yards and four touchdowns on Friday, it doesn’t look like they have any plans of slowing down.

It only took one play from scrimmage for Jubrey to get his team on the board with a nice 48-yard rushing touchdown.,

With as hot as this Generals team is on offense you could argue the defensive side of the ball is keeping pace. Not only did PHS get big stops and quick three and outs, but it won the turnover battle as well. The Generals only allowed three first downs in the first half and were able to give the ball back to the offensive quickly. On Pittsfield's second series it was Elias Robinson who had the success on the ground breaking a 34-yard touchdown to give them a 12-0 lead. After a Pittsfield fumble recovery and great field position, Marcus Jubrey was able to add his second of the night from 20-yards out to make it 20-0.

“Offensively and defensively we executed our game plan and our special teams did a real fine job,” Pittsfield head coach Brian Jezewski said. “Taconic has some athletes on the perimeter and we stopped the broken plays. We wanted to keep the ball out of their hands and on the ground and let our athletes do their thing.”

Pittsfield recovered the onside kick on the next play showing the dominance that coach Jezewski talked about in all phases, including the special teams.

Two plays later, it was Freddy Conyers’ turn to get in the end zone with a 27-yard rush to make it 26-0 at the end of the first quarter. Quick scores have been a common theme for the Generals all season long and today was no different. Jubrey tacked on his last two rushing touchdowns of the game, one from 20-yards out and one from 40-yards out closing the door on any chance of a comeback in the second half.

The Generals led 42-0 at the break and scored a quick goal at the start of the second half before putting in the reserves for a chance at some meaningful game time. With an undefeated record it's always going to bring the best in whoever they play and with this being a city rival in Taconic it was important for Pittsfield to stay on track and continue to play the style of football they bring.

“We have a mature group. Some of our kids have been in the program for four years now and I’m really proud of them,” Jezewski said. “We have our ups and downs, but our guys are held to a high standard and if they don’t meet it we make sure they get to it. This game is a big deal for the community and our guys have been locked in and created havoc all over the field.”

Pittsfield will look to finish off the regular season unbeaten with a matchup against Putnam Voc, next week, at home.
