Athlete of the Week: Lavante Wiggins
St. Joe's captain Lavante Wiggins has been the workhorse back in the Crusader's offense this year helping them to a 3-1 overall record. This week was no different for the senior running back as he carried the ball 24 times for a whopping 170 yards and 2 touchdowns. Wiggins finished the day averaging an impressive 7.1 yards per carry as he helped his team run past Drury 28-6.The running back not only displayed his ability to pick up large chunks of yardage on the ground but also from the air, as he hauled in two receptions for 67 yards. Wiggins was an absolute monster against Drury as he compiled 237 of his team's 379 total yards, which means he accounted for over 60 percent of his team's offense on the day.
The 6-foot, 225 pound senior was also active on the defensive end of the ball, finishing the day with a sack and a fumble recovery. Wiggins currently leads his team in rushing yards (469) and receiving yards (90), and is second in total touchdowns with four.
