Hoosac Valley Football Races Past Chicopee
ADAMS, Mass. — The Hoosac Valley football team Friday picked up where it left off last week with an emphatic 42-0 win over Chicopee.
It was one way traffic at Renfrew on Friday for Hoosac Valley (2-1) as the Hurricanes came out the gates fast.
After forcing Chicopee to a three-and-out, it didn’t take long for Hoosac Valley to get on the board. On just the second rush of the game, Shaun Kastner Jr. broke one for a 45-yard touchdown run. Not long after that, Kastner got his second of the game, this time a 9-yard run to give Hoosac a 14-0 lead.
Kastner finished the game with two touchdowns and 92 yards in just a half of work. Fellow running backs, Aaron Bush and Griffin Mucci also added a touchdown each in the first quarter.
“It’s good to make sure you can get off to a great start and do it against another opponent,” Hoosac Valley coach Mike Bostwick said of his team's second straight dominating first half. "You watch film all week and you try to cover everything the best you can. The group is slowly starting to jell.”
Hoosac scored 35 points in the first quarter alone, putting this game to bed early. Quarterback Carson Meczywor threw for a touchdown and rushed for one as well. His only touchdown throw of the game went to Caleb Harrington for 55 yards.
Hoosac finished the half up 42-0 and were able to get some second string players in to work on some new things.
“We got confident early, and it allowed us to get away from the stuff that worked last week and expand our offense and give some guys different looks that we have been working on,” Bostwick said.
Hoosac (2-1) will go on the road for the first time next week when it visits Easthampton.
