Lee Rolls Over Drury to Start 3-0
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Lee football team blanked Drury in a one-sided affair Saturday afternoon, 55-0.
It was all Lee (3-0), which started off fast and never let up.
Senior Lukas Loehr got things going for the Wildcats with a 21-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, followed by a 13-yard touchdown run. He later added another touchdown and went for more than 100 yards rushing.
After some more gritty defense the Wildcats were able to force Drury (0-3) into a punt that Jake Corcoran took back for a touchdown from 30 yards out for Lee’s third score. The Wildcats tacked on one more touchdown just before the break giving them a 27-0 half-time lead.
The second half started off a little sloppy for both teams as they traded punts and turnovers in consecutive plays. It wasn’t until late in the third quarter when Loehr's third touchdown and two J.J. Jiminez touchdowns got the Wildcats going again.
“We have a lot of things to clean up.” Lee coach Keith Thomson said “We left some things on the table, but to our guys’ credit, they continued to grind it out and they find ways to finish games and I’m proud of them right now.”
Lee dominated the game in the trenches, giving running lanes for whoever was in the backfield. It tacked on another touchdown in the fourth and put the game to bed.
Lee will now look ahead to a big game against Mount Greylock, a team that has given them fits in previous years.
“Greylock has been a big rivalry for us going back a lot of years, and it’s been a battle every year,” Thomson said. “They’ve gotten the better of us lately so we need to have a great week of practice and play our game and see where it shakes out.”
As for the young Blue Devils, they will pick themselves back up and go at it again next week away at Amherst-Pelham.
