NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Drury High School football team came from behind to beat Mohawk, 14-8, on Saturday afternoon.

With rain comes sloppy play and that's exactly what happened early on in the game. The opening kickoff was fumbled by Mohawk (3-3) and recovered by Drury (3-4).

Fortunately for Mohawk, the Blue Devils couldn't capitalize. It wasn't until Drury's second possession when the first points were on the board. The drive started off with a couple of big catch from Thaylen Harrison leading to his 3-yard catch. Harrison finished with 109 receiving yards and one touchdown in his first game back since being injured.

"Getting him back, just the team morale you could see around him, he is a team leader, he knows how to get his team going and knows how to make big tackles," Drury coach Seth Shepard said.

The rest of the first half turned into a position battle with both teams looking to take advantage of any turnovers with the weather conditions. It wasn't until the start of the fourth quarter when Mohawk finally got on the board with a nice 22-yard rushing touchdown from running back Jonathan Herbert, giving the visitors a 8-6 lead.

Herbert finished the day with 56 yards while his running partner Jordan Grenier added 116 yards. This was most of the offense from Mohawk as it was unable to get things going throwing the ball.

With time not on the Blue Devils' side, they looked to move the ball through the air with sophomore quarterback Obilio Rodriguez at the helm. Drury was successful in driving the field with three minutes left in the game with a few big catches from both Thaylen Harrison and Hayden Bird, including a tipped pass that Bird caught while on the ground.

The winning drive was topped off with a nice run from Jamal Beda to give Drury the 14-8 lead with less than a minute in the game.

"[Rodriguez] responded, that's exactly why he's our quarterback, he's a leader and we put him in good situations and players made huge plays," said Shepard.

This is Drury's second consecutive with coming off a big road win over McCann Tech last week. It will look to keep it going when they take on Mount Greylock next week in the regular season finale. As for Mohawk, it will look to regroup and take on on Pioneer Valley next week at home.
