PITTSFIELD, Mass. – The Pittsfield High football team stayed unbeaten with a dominant performance against Wahconah, 58-34, Friday night.

Both running back Elias Robinson and quarterback Marcus Jubrey had monster nights for the Generals, scoring a combined seven touchdowns and over 100 yards rushing for each. Two of their touchdowns came through the air with a 33-yard score and a 49-yard score.

Pittsfield came out the gates ready to go strong. The Generals’ first touchdown of the night came within 2 minutes of opening kickoff, and they never looked back. After a flawless opening drive Pittsfield (3-0) looked to their defense to continue with the same intensity. After forcing two straight punts in the first half the Generals got back on the board with Jubrey’s second touchdown of the night from 27 yards out.

“Wahconah has had our number the last couple years, but our kids put a ton of work in over the offseason,” Pittsfield head coach Brian Jezewski said. “Coach Mcneese did a phenomenal job with them and I couldn’t be more proud of our guys they executed and it was full domination from top to bottom regardless of the score.”

Wahconah would get one score back before the end of the quarter from West Dews, who rushed it in from 5 yards out making it a 16-6 game.

This would be the closest Wahconah would get to Pittsfield as they continued to crank up the intensity scoring from 25 yards out to start the second quarter. This time it was Elias Robinson who punched it in. The defense of Pittsfield had their turn to make a play and it came on fourth-and-1, when they stuffed the run up the middle forcing a turnover on downs and giving the ball right back to their offense.

Jubrey then found Robinson through the air for a 33-yard score making it 30-6. After trying a couple times earlier in the game, Pittsfield would successfully recover an onside kick that set them up four another score through the air four plays later only this time it was from 49 yards out that Jubrey found Robinson for the score.

Pittsfield tacked on two more scores in the half but none more impressive than the play defensive lineman Aidan Carlin made, intercepting a pass with a one hand grab and returning it for a touchdown to give Pittsfield a commanding 50-12 lead. It was one of those nights for Pittsfield as the last drive for Wahconah before the half saw West Dews get tracked down at the two yard line by Freddy Conyers who made a touchdown saving tackle.

“The play by Aidan Carlino for the interception return and then Freddy Conyers' effort play to save a touchdown that’s phenomenal and that’s what this football program embodies. I'm so proud of him and all the guys.” Jezewski said.

The second half would see both teams trading touchdown blows, but by that point Pittsfield had run away with the game already leaving no chance for Wahconah to claw back into the game. This was Pittsfield’s first win over Wahconah since the 2020-2021 season which was played in the spring during the Covid season.

Pittsfield will look to stay focused and keep their unbeaten record when they face South Hadley next week.

“We are 1-0, we’ll enjoy this win and be back at it again tomorrow with a 0-0 score and get ready for league play,” Jezewski said. "South Hadley and us have done a really good job in the league and playing down there is tough but we will be prepared.”

Wahconah (2-1) will get back to the drawing board as they face Amherst at home next week.
