John Joseph Wall Sr., 83

HANCOCK, Mass. —  John Joseph Wall, Sr. died on March 25, 2025 at the age of 83. Born in Pittsfield, MA on March 2, 1942 to John Joseph Wall and Stella (Kordana) Wall, John attended Tucker School, graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1959 and from Alliance College in 1966. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War.

While enlisted and stationed in Detroit, John met Beverly Ann Marcus, whom he married on June 18, 1966. John and his beloved wife returned to the Berkshires to raise their family. John worked for General Electric and General Dynamics for over 40 years.

John was Director of the Massachusetts Special Olympics Winter Games for many years, a Ski Patroller at Jiminy Peak, and a past president of Civitan. After retiring, John became a devoted yoga instructor and taught throughout Berkshire County. While he loved to travel, John enjoyed all of the surrounding art museums and stages, most notably Jacob’s Pillow. His love of the arts inspired him to take ballet. He also enjoyed planning and designing his yard and gardens, and driving in his convertible.

John is survived by his sons John (Carin) Wall of Williamstown, MA and Jason (Erica) Wall of Waterville, ME; grandchildren, Winston, Sterling, Henry and Arden Wall; a sister, Stella Coolbroth of Pittsfield, MA; and many nieces, nephews. John was predeceased by his loving wife Beverly of 33 years.

Calling hours will be Friday April 4, 2025 from 4-6 PM at Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA. A private burial will take place at a later date. John worked so many ways to make life better for others. We saw him inspire special athletes including our daughter Marianne to do things they never thought they could. He was a gifted and caring individual whose work will be long remembered. Our condolences to his family.
