Roy Martin Wilson, 78, of Clarksburg, MA died on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Jersey from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Roy was born in Providence, Rhode Island on June 18, 1946, the son of K. Howard Wilson and Charlotte (Martin) Wilson. Roy attended school in Northborough, MA and went on to graduate from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1968 with a bachelor degree in marketing. He enjoyed decades of his travels and calls on his many accounts who became longtime friends during his employment with RJ Reynolds and Commonwealth Brands. In addition, he took pride in the time he spent as an Infantry Staff Sergeant in the National Guard.
Roy was known for his exceptional sense of direction, always knowing exactly where he was and never getting lost because “ all the roads connect”. He had loved traveling to almost all states, leaving Alaska on his bucket list.
In his earlier years, he enjoyed cross country running and track, was an avid bowler and as time went by enjoyed pizza and Keno at Valley Park and cards with his friends. Playing pitch with his many friends over the years was much looked forward to. He loved NASCAR and all New England sports. Some of his fondest memories were planning and traveling in his RV camper to NASCAR races with “the guys”. He was an avid coin collector for decades and intrigued follower of space and solar systems news and discoveries.
Roy was a great and caring older brother and a loving and devoted father and son.
Above all, Roy’s heart shone bright in everything he did. From his unwavering dedication to his children and family, to his lifelong Reynolds’ friendships, to his lunches (and honorary membership) with the Caio group and to his regular morning tea at The Emporium, “solving all the world’s problems” , he had a quiet way with an easy smile and a hand always extended to help . Roy made friends wherever he went and will be missed by many.
Survivors include his two children, Chelsey Ciolkowski and Ryan Ciolkowski (Toni) of North Adams, his grandchildren, Maxwell Charles, Theodore Charles and Nikolai Ciolkowski, his sister Kelly Green (Robert) of Marblehead, MA. In addition, he leaves Ava, a very special little girl with whom he loved spending time with.
