Charles Horahan, 74

CLARKSBURG, Mass. —  Charles W. Horahan, 74, of River Road, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at Berkshire Medical Center after a short battle with cancer. Born on February 7, 1950, in North Adams, he was the son of the late Edward and Thelma Horahan.

Charles attended Drury High School in North Adams and went on to study at Berkshire Community College in Pittsfield. He built a career in the nuclear power industry, retiring from the Shaw Group after years of dedicated service at various nuclear power plants.

A proud and active member of his community, Charles was a 40-year member of the North Adams Elks #0487. He had a deep passion for skiing, serving as ski patrol at Dutch Hill in Readsboro, VT, and enjoying countless hours on the slopes. In addition to skiing, he loved hunting and golfing, embracing the outdoors and the camaraderie these activities brought.

Charles is survived by his daughter, Kerry Patterson, her husband, John Patterson, and his grandchildren, Karly Patterson and Jesse Patterson, all of Charlotte, NC. He is also survived by his brother John Horahan of North Adams along with other extended family and loved ones. He was predeceased by his longtime companion, Christine Smith, who passed away on May 19, 2020.

Charles will be remembered for his vibrant spirit, his love for adventure, and the lasting impact he made on all who knew him.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours for Charles Horahan will Wednesday January 1, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3;00 PM at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA..
