February 7, 1941 - August 28, 2024
John Joseph Adams Jr , 83, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2024 at Craneville Place in Dalton, MA. John was born on February 7, 1941 in Ludlow, MA to John and Phyllis Lucille (Bentley) Adams.
He attended schools in Northampton, MA and was a decorated veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1965-1968. During this time John became part of the United States Airborne, stationed in Mainz-Gonsenheim, Germany.
After returning from his service, John spent many years in California where he worked as a Steel Structure Fitter. He loved the coast line, spending most of his time fishing, and working on cars. John was extremely knowledgeable, a jack of all trades, using these skills he returned home to Hancock, Massachusetts where he met his lovely wife Eleanor, married May 9, 1981. Together, they built a beautiful home from the ground up.
John's love for the outdoors led him to being the owner and operator of Grizzly’s Wood Products in Hancock, MA. He then spent many years in the woods logging trees alongside his brother, Robert Adams. When John wasn’t in the woods, you could find him enjoying a cup of coffee along Pontoosuc Lake with his wife, tinkering on a piece of machinery, fishing on Lake Champlain, camping with his wife, cutting up the dance floor in his leather cowboy boots, or singing Karaoke. Above all, he was always willing to lend a hand.
John is survived by his loving wife Eleanor Jane (Walker) Adams, daughters Kirsten Pink (Mike) of Stillwater, NY. and Laura King (Greg) of Hancock, MA. grandchildren McClean and Michael Pink and Nicholas and Zachary King. He also leaves his sister Jeanette Steidler and brother Robert Adams (Brenda) and was predeceased by his sister Cynthia Jones who died in 2019.
