Robert A. Dow, 71

ADAMS, Mass. —  

Mr. Robert A. Dow, 71, of Adams, died Wednesday evening, August 21, 2024 at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.

He was born in Bennington, Vermont on January 20, 1953, a son of the late Ralph V. Dow and Mary E. (Maxwell) Dow Cantoni. He attended schools in Williamstown, and graduated from C.H. McCann Technical High School, North Adams.

Bob last worked as a CNA at Craneville Place in Dalton until retiring. Earlier, he had worked at the former James Hunter Machine Co. in North Adams, Photech Inc. in Williamstown, and at Interprint in Pittsfield.

He was a member of the Adams Lodge of Elks, and the Mountain Club of Adams. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, maintaining his cars, playing the guitar and building structures from popsicle sticks as a hobby.

He is survived his wife of nearly 48 years, the former Barbara A. Sworzen, whom he married on December 29, 1976; a daughter, Melinda Dow of Florence MA; two brothers, Gary Dow (Lynn) of North Adams, and Richard Cantoni of New York; two grandchildren, Alexis Desroches and Cole Desroches, both of Adams, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Barbara Dow Desroches on May 30, 2023, and by two brothers, John Dow and Rosario Cantoni.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, SEPTEMBER 7th at 10:00 AM in the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams. Calling hours will be held on Friday, Sept. 6th, from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be held privately at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pop Cares, PO Box 482, Williamstown, MA 01267, or at www.popcares.org
