NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — John Charles Nicol, 77 of North Adams, MA died Friday August 23, 2024 at Lee Health Care.

He was born in North Adams, MA on October 22, 1946, a son of the late James Connell Nicol Sr and Eunice Margaret (Collier) Nicol. He graduated from Drury High School.

John was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the US Army. He was last employed by the city of North Adams. Before that, he worked for General Electric Co in Pittsfield and Schenectady, NY for many years.

Survivors include his brother and sister in law, James C. Nicol Jr and his wife, Hazel of Mooresville, NC and his niece and nephew, Kim Ann Nicol Goff and her husband, Brian; and Scott Kenneth Nicol and his wife, Lynne and several grandnieces and grandnephews.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for John Nicol will be Monday September 9, 2024 at 11:00 AM at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPEL, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA. Burial will follow in Southview cemetery. A calling hour will be at the funeral home on Monday morning from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. John was a fine fellow and as a kid he was my neighbor and friend. When he and I were on School Street, I always enjoyed his company. Over the years we walked down different roads. and lost contact with each other. God bless John. A good man has moved on.
