Roger Goodell, 81

Roger Kenneth Goodell, 81 of North Adams died at North Adams Commons on Friday, August 9, 2024.

 He was born on July 2, 1943 in Worcester, Ma, a son of Robert and Dorothy (Wensley) Goodell, Sr. attended schools in Worcester, MA. and graduated from Classical High School in 1961. He then graduated in 1965 from North Adams State College with a degree in Education and followed that with a Master’s in Education in 1967.

Roger was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War where he proudly served in the United States Army from 1966 – 1968. He served as a pay specialist at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. After his military service Roger started teaching at Florida School from 1970-1985. He also worked at the Adams Post Office and retired from the Williamstown Post Office.

 Roger and Karen retired to Coconut Creek, FL and moved back to North Adams in 2023. He was an avid sports fan of all New England Teams.

 Roger is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Karen (Harvey) Goodell; his daughter Elizabeth “Beth” Goodell Darling and her husband James of North Adams; his son Scott Goodell of North Adams; sister Judith Anderson of Portsmouth, RI and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers; Robert Goodell, Jr. and Richard Goodell and his sisters; Jean Markowitz, Joyce Briscoe and Margery “Midge” Keegan.

 

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Celebration of Life in memory of Roger Kenneth Goodell will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024 from 1:00 PM – 4:00 P.M. at the North Adams American Legion.
