William F. Knapp, 81

ADAMS, Mass. —  William Franklin Knapp, 81 of Adams, MA died Friday August 2, 2024 at home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Hartford, CT on November 26, 1942, a son of George Franklin Knapp and Agnes Rose (Dupras) Knapp. He was a veteran of the US Army and also served in the Mass National Guard.

Bill worked at WR Grace and Polyfibron Technologies for over 30 years until his retirement. He moved to Adams in 1969 following his marriage to Marlene. Bill attended the former St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. Bill loved to make people smile and laugh. His signature “Popeye” smile will always be remembered.

Survivors include his wife, Marlene P. (Freitag) Knapp whom he married on November 8, 1969 and two daughters- Katherine R. (Matthew) Lincoln of Stamford, VT and Tracy Knapp Cory of Iowa and three sons- John (April) Knapp of Adams, MA William F. Knapp Jr of Adams, MA and George (Robin) Knapp of Hinsdale, MA. He also leaves 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Rae Knapp of Simi Valley, CA and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert G. Knapp.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Graveside Service for William Knapp will be held on Thursday August 8, 2024 at 11:00 AM in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. A calling hour will be held on Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS CENTRAL CHAPEL, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA.
