Mark W. Fortier, 68

CHESHIRE, Mass. —  

Mr. Mark W. Fortier, 68, of Cheshire, died on Thursday, July 4, 2024, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born in Adams on November 1, 1955, a son of the late John and Norma (Sauve) Fortier. He attended schools in Adams and graduated from Hoosac Valley High School with the class of 1973.

Mark last worked as a Repair/Rebuild Specialist for GL&V USA Inc., in Lenox until retiring. Earlier he had worked for many years as a machinist for the former Beloit Jones and J&L Fiber Services.

He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Cheshire. He was a member of the Mountain Club in Adams and Cheshire Rod & Gun Club. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, the former Jean M. Coope, whom he married on August 27, 1977; his son, Kyle Fortier and his wife Andrea of Swansea, MA; two daughters, Maryann Fortier of Adams and Stacy Dellaghelfa of Cheshire; four brothers, Craig Fortier and his wife Maria, Jay Fortier and his wife Patricia, Wayne Fortier and his wife Beth and Keath Fortier and his wife Dawn; five grandchildren, Hayden, Logan, Lucas, Tessa and Cora; one great granddaughter, Mia, and by many nieces and nephews.

The funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 10th at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Cheshire.

Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams.

Calling hours are Tuesday from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams.

Memorial donations may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA 02215.

Sorry to hear about the passing of Mark, it came as a great surprise, was a long time childhood friend and had many days with Mark and many other friends at Anothy's Pool, works for many years at Beloit Jones with Mark too, such a great guy.
We had great hunting trips in Vermont by the Canadian border in the 70's. and was in our Graduating Class.
