Mary E. Hathaway, 78

ADAMS, Mass. —  

Mrs. Mary E. (Grosskopf) Hathaway, 78, of Adams, died on Friday, May 24, 2024, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.

She was born in Bronx, NY on August 29, 1945, a daughter of the late Arthur and Catherine (Walpole) Grosskopf. She attended schools in New York and California and graduated from the San Fernando High School.

Mary worked as a manager in the Adams McDonald’s for many years until her retirement. She had also been a crossing guard in Adams for many years and while in California worked for the Sepulveda Veterans Hospital.

She was a member of the Plainfield Grange and the Hairpin Turners Square Dancing Club. She enjoyed bowling, trips to the casinos and spending time with her two granddaughters laughing and being silly.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Hathaway, whom she married on December 17, 1966; her daughter Sandra Daigneault and her husband Keith of Adams; her son Richard Hathaway, Jr. of Pittsfield; one brother, Arthur Grosskopf, Jr. of Sylmar, CA; one sister Catherine Trier of Palmdale, CA; two granddaughters, Emily and Mya Daigneault of Adams and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by three siblings, Robert, William and Margaret Grosskopf.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, May 30th at 10:00 A.M. in the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams.

Calling hours are Wednesday from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Friends of the Adams Council on Aging, 3 Hoosac St., Adams, MA 01220.

So sad to hear of Mary’s passing. Over the years I I always loved seeing Mary at the Adams Council on Aging! No matter the day she was always happy and always smiling! Mary had a Heart of Gold and she will be missed at the Center

Sandy, Keith, Emily & Mya, Once again we send you our Deepest Sympathy. Mary truly was a woman who loved life And lived it to the fullest. We’ll always think of all the fun we had at neighborhood parties and watching our grandchildren growing up together, and of course going to their activities.
