Russell Barbuto, 87

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Russell James Barbuto on May 1, 2024, at the age of 87. Born on November 20, 1936, Russell was known for his warmth, dedication to family, and craftsmanship.

Russell spent much of his career as a machinist at General Electric, where his precision and hard work earned him respect and admiration. Beyond his work, Russell found joy in woodworking, crafting beautiful pieces, and exploring new places through travel.

Russell is survived by his two sons, Jim and John, and his cherished grandchildren, Shealyn and Ty. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Zelda (Allen) Barbuto, who passed away in 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents Anthony and Celina and six brothers and sisters Anthony Jr, Thelma, Aurora, Marie, Albert and Robert and he leaves behind dozens of nieces and nephews.

Russell's family meant everything to him, and he was a loving father and grandfather. His humor, wisdom, and gentle nature will be deeply missed.

A celebration of Russell's life will be held, with details to be announced soon. Family and friends are welcome to join in remembering his life and the joy he brought to others.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Haven Hospice of Orange Park in Russell's memory. Donations can be made through their website at: https://beyourhaven.org/donate. I've always enjoyed seeing "Uncle Russel" when he would come by to visit Albert Jr. (his nephew/my partner) and quite often when we'd run into him at Walmart!!! He was a sweetheart and I'm happy to have met him. I'm sorry for the loss to all that hold him dear.

Jim & John,
I was so sad when I found out about Russell's passing. I have know your father & mother all my life and I can't ever remember a time when they didn't invite me in for a beverage, snack and a big warm hug. They were not only wonderful to me but to my children and so many others.
I know how special you both were to them as they would proudly share stories about you and or your children.
Please except my heartfelt condolences, and I hope you can find comfort knowing that the two of them are reunited once again.

What a sweet man he was. I was one of the bankers he went to and I just loved seeing him and his faithful furry companion Blizzard who was always ready for a cookie. I also had the joy of knowing his wife while I was a student at Drury. Her love of the Village People and all the storytelling made her a favorite among the students. A truly lovely couple reunited. Prayers to the family.
