Arthur Zavattero Jr., 85, of Wardsboro, Vt, passed away on February 10, 2024 in Townshend, Vt.
Arthur was born in Adams, MA to his parents Arthur Zavattero and Verna R. Zavattero on May 29th, 1938. He resided in Savoy, MA, South Deerfield, MA, Greenfield, MA before moving to Wardsboro, VT. He was a police officer when he lived in Savoy, MA. Over the years he has worked for several different construction/trucking Companies. He worked for Puffer Construction, Max Antes, Tidlund Excavating, Stowell Trucking, Davenport Trucking, Double D’s, Pasiecnik Farms, and Karl’s Excavating.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, where served in the Army.
He enjoyed gardening, playing cards, going to horse pulls, making maple syrup, going to the car races, and demolition derbies.
He is preceded in death by his father Arthur Zavattero, his mother Verna Zavattero, his stepmother Mabel Zavattero, and his sister Susan Wiles.
He is survived by his daughter Brenda Zavattero and her mate Christopher Burke of Wardsboro, VT, Eve Zavattero of Wardsboro, Vt, Michael Smith and his wife Mary Ann of Guilford, VT, Walter Smith and his partner Patricia Siergiey of Barre, VT, Edward Smith and his partner Jessie Doty of Greenfield, MA. He leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and his brother in-law Frank Wiles, as well as several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his brother in arms/best friend Dee Watson.
Arthur made many friends over the years whom he cherished. Friends that become not only friends but family. He cared so much about his family and friends. He was a loving father, grandfather, and friend.
The family of Arthur wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Wyll Everett and the staff at Grace Cottage Hospital for the care he received in his final days.
A graveside funeral service will be held on SATURDAY, JUNE 1st, at 10:00 AM in Cheshire Cemetery, West Mountain Rd, Cheshire, MA. Relatives and friends are invited.
