Harold "Sonny" Thomas, 89
CHESHIRE, Mass. - Mr. Harold E. “Sonny” Thomas, 89, of Cheshire, died on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Williamstown Commons.
He was born in Pownal, VT on July 7, 1934, a son of the late Mildred (Walden) Holland and Arthur Holland who raised him from childhood. He attended schools in North Adams and graduated from Drury High School.
Mr. Thomas worked doing construction, retiring from Francese Construction Company, Pittsfield.
He was a member of White Oaks Community Church, Williamstown.
His wife, the former Carol A. Kittler, whom he married on November 16, 1991, died on August 4, 2023.
He is survived by his five daughters, Bonnie Deraway (Doots) of Clarksburg, Marcia Moon of North Adams, Terri Lee (Ray) of Texas, Melissa Sweener (John) of Stephentown, NY and Stacy Blanchard (Jeff) of Tennessee; his stepdaughter, Kelly Roberts (Jake) of Hancock; two stepsons, Michael (Tracy) King of Cheshire and Peter (Sue) King of Cheshire; his sister Laura Hartman of North Adams; thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, three step grandchildren, two step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son Harold Thomas who died on February 4, 2024 and by four brothers, Daniel Thomas, Andrew Holland, William Holland and Arthur Holland.
A Celebration of Sonny’s life will be held on Saturday, June 22nd at 12:00 Noon at the Adams American Legion, 160 Forest Park Ave. Adams, MA 01220.
