James Horbal, 52
ADAMS, Mass. — James Paul Horbal, "Hoss" age 52, of Williamsburg, VA, passed away on April 4, 2024. He was born in Adams, Massachusetts, on May 18, 1971.
Jim was a devoted family man who cherished spending time with his wife, Debra, and his two sons, James and Luke. He was known for his love of traveling, fishing, hunting, and supporting his sons at their sporting events. Jim will be remembered for his laughter, love of country, and endless shenanigans. His passion for New England sports never wavered, no matter where he lived. He also mentored young men in football and served as an assistant coach for many teams. Jim excelled in all sports he played throughout his life.
Jim attended C.H. McCann Technical High School, class of 1989 and Western New England College graduate in 1993.
In his career, Jim served as a Deputy Sheriff in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He served overseas in many locations around the globe in support of the United States Government as well as the United Nations. For the last decade, he worked as a training officer with the DOD.
A ceremony to honor Hoss was held at Nelson Funeral Home on April 13, 2024.
Jim is survived by his wife, Debra Perry Horbal; sons, James P. and Luke E. Horbal; father, Paul J. Horbal; mother, Elaine M. "King" Horbal; sister, Lisa A. Landry (Chris); niece, Danielle H. Langlois (Andrew); niece, Taylor E. Whitmarsh; aunt, Brenda A. Boutin (Jef); uncle, Peter D. Horbal (Charlene); and uncle, Alan D. Horbal, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ernest & Thelma King, Peter & Doris Horbal, and great grandmother, Mildred Cone.

Jim "Hoss" will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched. He was a larger than life person and his absence will be felt forever.
